The Journal of Precision Medicine and Health Research (JPMHR) is a peer-reviewed, fully open-access journal published biannually by BMU Ventures (Private) Limited, Pakistan.
JPMHR publishes research in precision and personalized medicine together with specialized clinical, rehabilitation, public-health, technological, and health-services research. The journal considers studies that contribute to prevention, diagnosis, treatment, functional recovery, patient stratification, risk assessment, healthcare delivery, and evidence-informed clinical decision-making.
The journal’s mission is to support the responsible use of biological, clinical, behavioral, functional, technological, and population-level evidence to improve individual and population health outcomes.

Publication Schedule
JPMHR publishes two issues in each calendar year according to the following schedule:
- Issue 1: Scheduled for publication by 30 June
- Issue 2: Scheduled for publication by 31 December
Aims and Scope
JPMHR covers two connected areas: precision and personalized medicine and specialized health research. The journal considers research that improves understanding of differences among patients, populations, exposures, interventions, treatment responses, functional outcomes, and healthcare settings.
Precision and Personalized Medicine
- Genetics, genomics, epigenetics, pharmacogenomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and other multi-omics approaches
- Biomarkers, molecular diagnostics, laboratory medicine, and patient phenotyping
- Precision oncology, targeted therapies, and individualized treatment selection
- Risk stratification, prognosis, clinical prediction, and decision-support systems
- Personalized prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up
- Drug response, medication optimization, adverse-effect prediction, and clinical pharmacy
- Artificial intelligence, machine learning, bioinformatics, clinical informatics, and health-data science
- Digital health, wearable technologies, remote monitoring, and technology-supported care
Specialized Clinical and Health Research
The journal also considers clinically and scientifically relevant research that examines defined patient characteristics, risk factors, diagnostic pathways, treatment responses, functional profiles, comparative interventions, healthcare delivery, or context-specific health priorities.

- Musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiovascular, respiratory, metabolic, pediatric, geriatric, and behavioral health
- Physical therapy, rehabilitation sciences, exercise medicine, occupational health, and functional recovery
- Nursing, pharmacy, speech and language sciences, audiology, optometry, nutrition, and allied health disciplines
- Clinical trials and comparative-effectiveness studies involving therapeutic, rehabilitative, behavioral, or technology-supported interventions
- Patient-reported outcomes, treatment response, disability, mobility, participation, quality of life, and recovery profiles
- Diagnostic accuracy, screening, prediction, prognosis, and clinical decision-making
- Epidemiology, precision public health, population risk, environmental and occupational exposures, and social determinants of health
- Health-services research, implementation science, healthcare quality, access, policy, and service-delivery models
- Research addressing locally important health problems with clear clinical, rehabilitation, public-health, or healthcare-system relevance
A manuscript does not have to use genomic or molecular data to fall within the journal’s scope. Precision or specialized-health relevance may arise from clinically meaningful variation in patient characteristics, phenotypes, risk profiles, exposures, intervention responses, functional outcomes, diagnostic pathways, or implementation settings.
Research Methods
JPMHR considers randomized and non-randomized clinical trials, cohort studies, case-control studies, analytical cross-sectional studies, diagnostic-accuracy studies, prognostic and prediction research, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, qualitative studies, mixed-methods research, implementation evaluations, health-services research, methodology studies, and ethically approved protocols.
Scope Boundaries
The following submissions are normally outside the journal’s scope:
- Research unrelated to medicine, healthcare, rehabilitation, public health, or health sciences
- Purely technical or computational work without a defined biomedical, clinical, or health application
- Descriptive surveys without a defined evidence gap or clear clinical, public-health, policy, or service-delivery relevance
- Routine institutional audits without transferable scientific or healthcare learning
- Case reports without a meaningful diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitative, or personalized-care contribution
- Opinion-based submissions unsupported by appropriate evidence
- Studies lacking required ethics approval, informed consent, registration, or data-integrity documentation
- Manuscripts whose aims, methods, reporting, or conclusions do not permit reliable scientific assessment

Peer Review Process
Submissions first undergo editorial screening for relevance to scope, ethical documentation, reporting completeness, originality, authorship information, and suitability for external review.
Manuscripts that pass initial screening undergo double-blind peer review by a minimum of two independent reviewers selected according to the subject matter and methodology of the submission.
Editorial decisions consider the research question, study design, analysis, reporting, ethical compliance, interpretation, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
Publication Ethics and Integrity
JPMHR maintains procedures for plagiarism screening, authorship verification, conflict-of-interest disclosure, correction of errors, complaints and appeals, and investigation of potential research or publication misconduct.
Open Access
JPMHR provides immediate open access to all published articles without subscription or access barriers. Readers may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to, and reuse published content in accordance with the applicable licence terms and with appropriate attribution to the authors and source.
Licensing, Copyright and Self-Archiving
Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal a non-exclusive licence to publish and distribute their work.
Research Transparency
Authors are expected to report research methods, ethical approvals, informed-consent arrangements, trial registration, funding, conflicts of interest, author contributions, and data availability accurately.
Responsible data sharing is encouraged where it is lawful, ethically permissible, and consistent with participant consent and institutional requirements.
Article Processing Charges
An Article Processing Charge of PKR 25,000, or the stated equivalent for international authors, is payable only after acceptance.
Payment does not influence peer review or editorial decision-making. Applicable waiver or concession provisions are described in the journal’s fee policy.
Archiving and Digital Preservation
JPMHR maintains documented arrangements for the preservation, backup, and continued accessibility of published journal content.
Privacy and Data Protection
Personal information entered on the journal website is used for editorial and publication purposes, including submission handling, peer review, production, publication, and journal communications.
Personal data is not sold or used for unrelated marketing. Details concerning processing, retention, security, and user rights are provided in the privacy policy.
Complaints and Appeals
The journal provides a confidential and structured mechanism for handling complaints and appeals concerning editorial decisions, published content, policies, conduct, or journal procedures.
